Job summary

Plante Moran offers an internship with the National Tax Office to work on emerging federal tax developments and controversy matters. You will help organizations navigate the evolving tax environment and interact with the IRS, under guidance from experienced professionals.

This role is ideal for candidates pursuing a JD, LLM, or Master’s in Taxation, with strong analytical and writing skills, and a minimum 3.0 GPA. Some travel may be required, and work hours may exceed 40 per week.

Qualifications

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical and communication skills.
• Interested in tax law, controversy, and emerging issues in taxation.
• Pursuing JD/LLM or Master’s in Taxation; GPA of 3.0 or higher.

Responsibilities

• Evaluating tax planning strategies from federal legislation and market developments.
• Researching positions, drafting memos, and advising clients on federal tax matters.
• Engaging with the IRS and preparing responses to exams, appeals, and collections.
• Drafting private letter ruling requests and planning for future tax positions.
• Assisting National Tax Office functions and writing tax alerts.
