Job summary

You will assist with evaluating planning strategies, researching positions, and drafting memos for clients across various tax topics.

Ideal candidates pursue a JD, LLM, or Master’s in Taxation with a minimum 3.0 GPA, and possess strong written communication skills.

Qualifications

• Pursuing JD, LLM, or Master’s in Taxation.
• Academic GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Interest in tax law and controversy.
• Strong written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate tax planning strategies from federal legislation, regulations, court cases, and market developments.
• Research technical positions, draft memos and position papers, and advise clients on federal tax matters.
• Engage with the IRS and prepare responses to exams, appeals, and collections.
• Conduct technical research and write memoranda to support tax positions, exam responses, and appeals.
• Draft private letter ruling requests and proactive planning for future tax positions.
• Assist National Tax Office functions, such as writing internal and external tax alerts on current tax developments and taxation topics.
• Interact with staff at all levels and with our clients to deepen understanding of tax law and controversy.
• Gain hands-on experience with sophisticated technical issues in tax.
