Qualifications

• Detail-oriented with strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Strong interest in tax law, tax controversy, and emerging issues.
• Ability to analyze complex topics and communicate conclusions in writing.
• Pursuing a JD, LLM, or Master’s in Taxation.
• Academic GPA of 3.0 or higher.
• Prior coursework or interest in tax research or controversy preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate tax planning strategies from federal legislation, regulations, court cases, and market developments.
• Research technical positions, draft memos, and advise clients on federal tax matters.
• Engage with the IRS and prepare responses to exams, appeals, and collections.
• Conduct technical research and write memoranda to support tax positions and appeals.
• Draft private letter ruling requests and proactive planning for future positions.
• Assist National Tax Office with tax alerts and emerging planning techniques.
• Interact with staff at all levels and with a diverse client base.
