Job summary

BDO USA, PC is seeking a Tax Associate, Core Tax Services in San Diego to assist with the preparation of tax returns and tax research, leveraging educational background and communication skills to support compliance and consulting tasks.

You will work with tax software, gather data for filings, and draft memos while helping minimize client tax burdens. CPA eligibility or progress toward CPA is preferred, with room for growth in a collaborative Firm.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Economics or Statistics OR CPA certification required (or Authorization to Test for the CPA exam) prior to start date.
• Master’s in accountancy or taxation preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures clients comply with all applicable authorities while minimizing tax and reporting burdens; ensures Firm policies and TQM are followed.
• Prepares filings (tax returns) using a review/documentation system to ensure client compliance while minimizing tax burden.
• Collects data needed for filing requirements and communicates missing items for return preparation.
• Utilizes Firm compliance software to maximize efficiency in the tax prep process.
• Collaborates with Senior on project completion and follows up on Open items.
• Documents all significant tax positions.
• Assists with prep and/or review of income tax provisions.
• Drafts clear general memorandums and correspondence.
• Identifies potentially relevant tax issues or opportunities during the compliance process.
