Job summary

H&R Block in New Jersey is seeking a Tax Associate to start a hands-on, apprenticeship-style career in tax and client service. With guidance and coaching, you will grow your skills while reviewing each client's tax situation and delivering clear advice.

You'll work in-person with support from a Client Care Specialist and advanced technology to prepare returns, focusing on accuracy and building trust. Evening and weekend hours during tax season may be required.

Qualifications

• Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment.
• Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs.
• Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions.
• Comfort using digital tools and systems as well as AI-based tools such as Copilot and ChatGPT.
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Partner with a dedicated Client Care Specialist who gathers client information, allowing you to focus on reviewing each client's tax situation and delivering a great experience
• Leverage H&R Block's advanced technology to prepare returns while you focus on reviewing results, ensuring accuracy, and providing personalized advice
• Use open-ended questions and active listening to understand client needs and identify tax savings opportunities
• Recommend relevant products and services based on client needs, questions, and unique situations
• Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions with guidance and resources
• Continue building tax knowledge through ongoing training to grow your confidence and ability to serve clients effectively
• Build strong client relationships and support office goals through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
