Job summary

Laird Law Firm in Clear Lake, IA seeks an experienced Certified Public Accountant with tax emphasis to join our growing practice. You will prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses, provide practical tax guidance, and build long-term client relationships.

Candidates should have CPA license, 3+ years of public accounting experience in tax, strong analytical skills, and excellent client communication.

Qualifications

• Active CPA license
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field
• At least 3 years of public accounting experience in tax
• Strong knowledge of federal and state income taxation
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage multiple client matters and deadlines
• Experience with tax software and accounting systems (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal and state individual income tax returns
• Prepare and review business tax returns (partnerships, S corporations, corporations)
• Prepare or review fiduciary and other tax returns as needed
• Provide tax planning and tax-saving recommendations to individuals and business owners
• Research federal and state tax issues as needed
• Assist clients with estimated tax payments and year-end planning
• Communicate with clients regarding tax matters and planning opportunities
• Maintain accurate, organized client files and work papers
• Stay current on changes in tax laws and regulations
• Develop and maintain long-term client relationships
