Job summary

LattaHarris, LLP is seeking a Tax Manager to join our Des Moines team. You will lead a portfolio of business and individual clients, review complex returns, and mentor staff while driving high-quality service and planning strategies.

You will collaborate with colleagues on client relationships, engage in business development, and help grow the firm’s tax practice in Iowa.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA designation required.
• 5+ years of public accounting experience with significant tax experience.
• Strong knowledge of federal and state tax compliance and planning.
• Experience reviewing complex tax returns and managing client engagements.
• Strong leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
• Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the lead advisor for a portfolio of business and individual clients.
• Review complex tax returns, tax projections, and planning strategies.
• Oversee client engagements, ensuring quality, efficiency, and exceptional service.
• Mentor and develop Supervisors, Staff Accountants, and Interns.
• Meet with clients throughout the year to provide tax planning and consulting services.
• Analyze and respond to IRS and other tax authority notices.
• Assist with business development, networking, and cultivating referral relationships.
• Support firm initiatives, recruiting efforts, and team development.

Your Role as Tax Manager
