H&R Block in Arlington Heights, IL is seeking a year-round Block Advisor Tax Advisor to prepare accurate returns, uncover savings opportunities, and build lasting client relationships with the support of industry‑leading training and technology.

This in-person role conducts client interviews, provides personalized tax guidance, and collaborates with the team to deliver empathetic, consultative service within a local Block Advisors office.

Qualifications

• Requires completion of the H&R Block Tax Knowledge Assessment.
• 5+ years in tax prep, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience with complex individual and business returns, including tax planning, audit support, and tax notice resolution.
• Experience in a client-facing, consultative, or advisory role.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain tax concepts clearly.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma / GED / equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance preferred (see below).
• CPA or Enrolled Agent (EA) or IRS Circular 230 credentials preferred.
• Familiarity with GoSystem or Ultratax software preferred.
• Familiarity with AI-powered tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT) preferred.
• Experience in consultative or advisory client relationships (financial advising, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse tax situations.
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financials and implications.
• Build year-round client relationships with empathetic, consultative service and identify savings opportunities.
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance as needed.
• Collaborate with team members to maintain a positive, client-focused office environment.
