Job summary

H&R Block is seeking a year-round Block Advisor Tax Advisor. This in-person role helps clients navigate complex tax situations, prepares returns, uncovers savings opportunities, and builds lasting relationships using comprehensive training and technology, with a competitive hourly rate and incentive plan.

You will conduct client interviews, handle diverse individual and business returns, and provide IRS support, audit guidance, and tax notices, working with a supportive team in a local Block

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, finance, or bookkeeping.
• Experience preparing complex individual and business returns.
• Experience in a client-facing, advisory role.
• Must complete continuing education and meet IRS/state requirements.
• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Prepare complete, accurate tax returns for clients with diverse and complex tax situations, including individual and business returns
• Conduct in-depth client interviews to understand financial situations, life changes, and tax implications — then provide clear, personalized recommendations
• Build trusted, year-round client relationships by delivering empathetic, consultative service and identifying tax savings opportunities and relevant Block Advisors products and services
• Provide IRS support, tax notice assistance, and audit guidance to clients as needed
• Collaborate with team members, share knowledge, and contribute to a positive, client-focused office environment
