MISSION STATEMENT:

SCOPE OF POSITION:
Design and implement a safe, fun, and educational sports and athletics program including target sports (archery and air rifles), field sports (football, soccer, kickball, whiffle ball, etc.), and outdoor games (human foosball, gaga ball, 9-square, horseshoes, etc.).
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE:
- High School graduate, some college preferred but not mandatory
- Interest, knowledge, and skills in target sports, field sports, and outdoor games
- Basic certification from N.A.S.P. preferred
- Experience working with children preferred
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- Good leadership skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to pass a child safety background check
- Detail-oriented and well-organized
- Knowledge in children/personnel safety, planning, problem solving, and crisis intervention
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Plan, organize, and supervise a sports and athletics program for campers, designing activities for electives, free-time, and cabin activities
- Create an environment conducive to success, understanding group needs, maintaining professionalism, and fostering fun and excitement
- Develop and implement elective courses, supervise and instruct badge classes & music/art classes
- Promote physical skills, sportsmanship, and learning in target sports, field sports, and outdoor games
- Communicate instructions creatively, keep records, ensure equipment safety, and oversee safety protocols
- Lead briefing and debriefing sessions, encourage group learning, and transfer learning to Christ
- Maintain order and cleanliness of sports areas, conduct safety checks, and manage supplies
- Train and assist counselors in program rules and safety
GENERAL DUTIES:
- Exhibit Christ-like conduct and support the camp program
- Attend all camp activities and meetings
- Follow policies and maintain personal and living space cleanliness
- Assist with camp cleanup
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to sit, walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel, twist
- Ability to grasp, push, pull, reach overhead
- Operate telephone and computer
- Lift up to 25 lbs.
- Understand verbal and written instructions
- Perform janitorial tasks as needed
