Job summary

Centerline Logistics is hiring for a Tank Barge PIC role focused on the safe transfer of petroleum products between barges, ships, and facilities along with regulatory reporting. The position requires extensive tanking experience and USCG credentials, with strong adherence to safety standards.

The candidate will perform operations on deck, manage gauge reports, and ensure compliance with Coast Guard regulations while coordinating with crews and facility personnel.

Qualifications

• Experience as a tank barge PIC on oil barges is required.
• Must hold PIC Endorsement and USCG MMC with at least 5 years in tanking.
• Valid CPR/First Aid/AED training and certification.
• HAZWOPER 24 Hour training and current certificate.
• Valid state driver’s license.
• Knowledge of Coast Guard and state requirements for transfer operations.
• Ability to think and respond quickly to emergency situations.
• Good communication skills by voice and/or visual signals.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently without supervision.
• Knowledge of company safety practices.
• Ability to maintain professional relations with customers.
• Knowledge of basic math (add/subtract/multiply/divide).
• Ability to complete accurate paperwork.
• Must read/speak/understand English over telephone and/or radio.

Responsibilities

• Monitor product level in tanks, operate diesel engines, pumps, valves and booms.
• Load 55 gallon drums.
• Adjust and secure barge lines.
• Communicate with foreign crews and oil facility personnel.
• Complete loading and discharge gauge reports.
• Inspect vessel for Coast Guard and state regulatory compliance.
• Use of respirator, SCBA, air monitoring equipment, hearing protection, VHF, hand tools, tow lines, alarms and thermometer.
• Operate diesel engines, cargo pumps, hydraulic booms, cargo gear, gate and butterfly valves.
• Check oil and water in equipment on board before use.
• General barge maintenance and cleanliness.
• Hydrostatic testing of cargo hoses and piping.
• Change engine oil and filters.
• Splice barge lines and boom running gear.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
