Job summary

Tradebe Environmental Services in East Chicago, IN is seeking a Tank Farm Operator for the 4th shift. This hands-on role focuses on safe handling, movement, and storage of materials in an industrial setting, contributing to environmentally responsible waste management.

You will load and move materials between tanks, operate pumps and valves, perform inspections, and maintain records to support daily operations. Competitive pay with weekly pay and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift experience is required.
• Experience in industrial or hazardous-waste settings is a plus.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.

Responsibilities

• Load, unload, transfer, and move materials between tanks, tankers, trucks, and railcars.
• Operate, monitor, and perform basic maintenance on pumps, valves, and storage tanks.
• Conduct routine inspections, sampling, and compatibility testing for safe handling.
• Maintain accurate records and support daily operational and compliance activities.
• Promote ES&H by following regulatory requirements and keeping a clean work area.

Opportunity Highlights

• Location: East Chicago, IN
• Shift:4 days on, 3 days off - Saturday/Sunday and two weekdays from 5:00 AM - 3:30 PM
• Pay Range: $20.90-21.63/hr
  • Base Pay: $18.90/hr starting; Increases to $19.63 after 90 days;
  • Operator Pay: $0.75/hr
  • Shift Differential: $1.25/hr

As aTank Farm Operator, you'll play a critical role in the safe handling, movement, and storage of materials throughout our facility. This hands-on position is ideal for someone who enjoys working in an industrial environment, takes pride in operating safely, and wants to contribute to a team that helps protect the environment through responsible waste management and recycling.

Key Job Responsibilities

• Safely load, unload, transfer, and move materials between tanks, tankers, trucks, and railcars while following established operating procedures.
• Operate, monitor, and perform basic maintenance on pumps, valves, storage tanks, and other process equipment to support daily operations.
• Conduct routine inspections, sampling, and compatibility testing to ensure safe and compliant material handling.
• Maintain accurate records, track processed materials, and support daily operational and compliance activities.
• Promote a strong culture of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) by following regulatory requirements, maintaining a clean work area, and supporting facility compliance programs.

Do you have what it takes?

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift experience; comfortable working around industrial equipment.
• At least 1 year in an industrial or hazardous-waste setting is a plus.
• Basic familiarity with DOT/RCRA rules is helpful (we’ll train on specifics).
• Able to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check.
• Able to work on-site and perform physical tasks (walking, standing, lifting, reaching, pushing, pulling, kneeling, crawling).
