Job summary

Tradebe Environmental Services in East Chicago, IN is seeking an experienced forklift operator for a Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM shift. You will safely operate forklifts, unload trailers, verify shipments, and store materials while following DOT and hazardous waste guidelines.

The role includes competitive pay, weekly pay, and benefits such as medical, dental, vision, and a 401(k) plan. Prior experience with hazardous waste handling is a plus, with opportunities for growth and development

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift operating experience required.
• Experience in hazardous waste or environmental services preferred.
• Knowledge of DOT or RCRA regulations preferred.
• Ability to read, write and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate forklifts to unload incoming trailers and move materials throughout the facility
• Verify incoming shipments and place materials in designated staging or storage areas
• Follow DOT and facility segregation guidelines for hazardous waste handling
• Complete inspections and compliance checks including drum integrity, aisle spacing, and labeling requirements
• Perform daily forklift inspections and basic equipment maintenance such as cleaning and adding fluids
• Track inventory movements and complete required paperwork including weight sheets, reports, and tracking logs
• Assist with material preparation, processing operations, and drum sampling as needed
• Other duties as assigned

Opportunity Highlights

• Location: East Chicago, IN
• Schedule/Shift: Monday – Friday 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
• Pay Range: $19.65-20.38/hr
  • Base Pay: $18.90/hr starting; Increases to $19.63 after 90 days;
  • Operator Pay: $0.75/hr

Do you have what it takes?

• High school diploma or equivalent experience
• Previous forklift operating experience
• Experience in the hazardous waste or environmental services industry is a plus
• Knowledge of DOT or RCRA regulations is preferred
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, drug screen, and background check
• Comfortable working in a physically active role involving standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling, kneeling, and reaching
• Ability to read, write, and understand English
