Job summary

MWR Ketchikan Crows Nest in Ketchikan, AK is seeking a Bartender to prepare drinks, serve patrons, and maintain a clean, stocked bar. You will handle cash transactions, operate the bar area, and comply with safety and sanitation standards.

The role requires organization, ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and a minimum age for serving alcohol. Prior bartending experience preferred; flexible with a intermittent schedule.

Qualifications

• Experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale with knowledge of a wide variety of drinks and ingredients.
• Ability to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and resolve problems or seek assistance.
• Experience following proper cash handling procedures.
• Must be able to stand, stoop, and walk for long periods of time.
• Must be able to lift 5–10 pounds frequently, 10–20 pounds occasionally, and up to 40 pounds.
• Must meet the minimum age requirement for serving alcohol.
• Two years of bartender experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares alcoholic or nonalcoholic drinks following established and complex recipes; serves patrons or delivers to staff.
• Ensures bar is clean, stocked, and organized; maintains storeroom and work area for easy access to supplies.
• Responsible for bar operation, receipts, and inventory accountability; handles cash and records.
• Completes required alcohol service training; attends annual refresher training.
• Identifies unruly patrons and follows procedures to resolve issues.
• Adheres to safety and sanitation regulations and uses proper safety equipment.
• Other duties as assigned.
