Job summary

The U.S. Coast Guard Community Services Command is seeking a bartender for the Ketchikan, AK location on an intermittent schedule. You will prepare drinks, serve patrons, and ensure a clean, organized bar area with proper stock control.

Responsibilities include handling cash, maintaining records, and participating in required training. The role requires vigilance for safety, adherence to sanitation procedures, and the ability to respond to unruly patrons per established procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale; knowledge of ingredients and drink construction.
• Ability to identify intoxicated or unruly patrons and seek resolution per procedures.
• Experience following cash handling procedures accurately.
• Must be able to stoop, stand, and walk for extended periods.
• Physical ability to lift 5–10 lb objects regularly, 10–20 lb to move stock, up to 40 lb occasionally.
• Must meet the minimum age requirement for serving alcohol.

Responsibilities

• Prepare alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks per established recipes and serve directly.
• Maintain a neat, sanitary bar area and sufficient stock levels; manage storeroom setup.
• Operate cash register, handle receipts, and maintain drink/ liquor records.
• Assist in inventory and records for drinks in demand; document cash funds where required.
• Complete required alcohol-service training; participate in ongoing refresher training.
• Identify unruly patrons and escalate as needed; comply with safety and sanitation rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
