Morgan State University invites you to join the Office of Human Resources as a Talent Specialist. This role supports full-cycle recruitment, from posting positions to conducting background checks, coordinating interviews, and managing applicant data in the ATS.

The successful candidate will help attract diverse, talented professionals across the university. Required: a bachelor’s degree in business, HR, or related field and at least two years of recruitment experience.

Qualifications

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of related experience as a Recruiter or Generalist with recruitment responsibilities is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting departments through the full cycle recruitment process for open positions: posting, sourcing, screening resumes, coordinating interviews, interviewing, and background/reference checks.
  • Assist designated campus areas with hiring of temporary employees.
  • Determine selection criteria for new positions in consultation with hiring departments.
  • Communicate effectively with the hiring manager/interview team to ensure preparedness.
  • Train managers and applicants on how to use the ATS system.

Morgan State University Office of Human Resources ( OHR ) invites you to join our team. OHR is preparing to execute President Wilson’s strategic plan: Transformation Morgan 2030: Leading the Future . We are looking for collaborative, innovative, and service-oriented professionals to help reimagine OHR to reflect the services of a 21st‑century department that can serve the University and attract, develop, and retain its desired workforce. The Talent Specialist will be responsible for providing consultation in the area of recruitment. The Talent Specialist will assist in developing, implementing, and providing support for MSU’s recruitment processes to attract diverse, talented professionals that will contribute to the professionalism and growth of MSU. Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting departments through the full cycle recruitment process for open positions which includes: posting open positions, sourcing candidates, screening resumes, coordinating interviews, interviewing candidates and conducting background and reference checks; facilitating skills testing, as needed
  • Assisting designated campus areas with hiring of temporary employees
  • Assisting hiring departments with determining selection criteria for new positions
  • Communicating effectively with the hiring manager/interview team to ensure preparedness throughout the interview process
  • Continuously training managers, employees and applicants on how to use the ATS system
  • Ensuring all hiring processes are in accordance with University policies and procedures
  • Maintain applicant tracking system databases and spreadsheets of recruitment activities and assist with the calculation of staffing metrics
  • Maintain relationships with temporary agencies to fill temporary employment needs
  • Representing the university at job fairs, career days, campus visitations and community outreach activities
  • Follow up with finalist candidates by drafting/sending offer letters and new hire packets
  • Reviewing all University job postings and making necessary updates
  • Assisting with recruitment

Requested Minimum Qualifications

Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, or related field from an accredited college and university is required.
Experience
A minimum of two (2) years of related experience as a Recruiter or Generalist with recruitment responsibilities is required.

Other Preferences for Consideration

Preferences:

  • Experience Working in a Higher Education Setting is preferred.
  • Experience recruiting for a large organization.
