This is an application for the MySQL Database Support Engineer - Talent Pool.

What you’ll be doing…

You will collaborate with top database experts who are also great teammates, mentors, and friends. This role offers opportunities to develop your skills and deepen your expertise in databases.

This is not an entry-level role focused on routine tasks. Your main responsibility will be assisting our customers' DBA teams by gathering data, investigating issues, and providing detailed analyses via email, chat, or voice. For critical issues, you will conduct screen-sharing sessions to help resolve problems efficiently.

When not troubleshooting, you will contribute by writing blog posts, answering questions on forums, creating articles for our knowledge base, and hosting webinars.

This is a remote position; you can work from anywhere with a stable internet connection.

What Have You Done:

• Hands-on experience with MySQL and InnoDB
• Proficiency with MySQL tools and ecosystem
• Knowledge of performance tuning, query optimization, and indexing
• Experience with backup solutions like Xtrabackup, mydumper, and Point-in-Time Recovery
• Understanding of high-availability solutions (replication, proxies, routers)
• Practiced in zero-downtime procedures
• Understanding of monitoring requirements
• Experience administering Linux-based systems
• Methodical troubleshooting skills and problem-solving ability
• Self-motivated with a desire to learn new technologies
• Willingness to travel occasionally for meetings or conferences
• Experience working with English-speaking customers
• Desirable: Kubernetes knowledge

What Would Make You Stand Out:

• Experience in SLA-bound operations
• Open-source community contributions
• Experience with screen-sharing and remote support
• Knowledge of Galera, XtraDB Cluster, ProxySQL, Orchestrator
• Experience with cloud services (AWS, RDS, Azure, GCP)
• Familiarity with Percona Monitoring & Management (PMM) and other tools
• Experience with configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
• Percona Toolkit expertise
• MySQL DBA certifications
• Knowledge of MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MyRocks
• Experience with Kubernetes, OpenShift, Docker
• Advanced Linux troubleshooting skills (gdb, perf, strace, etc.)
