Job summary

James Madison University is seeking a Talent Development Student Assistant – FWS & WBLE to support workshops and front-desk operations in TD. This part-time, federal work-study role develops hospitality, communication and teamwork in a professional setting.

As a current full-time student, you will assist with materials, events, and participant greetings during weekday hours, gaining transferable skills and a hands-on introduction to training and staff support.

Qualifications

• Be a current full-time student.
• Have availability during business hours 8am-5pm Monday-Friday.
• Be detail oriented.
• Be able to work with initiative and intention.
• Be willing to learn new skills required to complete job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assist guests at the front desk, including phone coverage.
• Prepare materials for workshops, maintain supplies and set up rooms for events.
• Prepare refreshments, greet participants, assist the facilitator and make opening announcements.
• Maintain room readiness by rearranging furniture and anticipating event needs.
• Collaborate with team members on projects and participate in team meetings.
