Job summary

University of Rhode Island in Kingston, RI seeks an Academic Advisor for Talent Development to build and maintain collaborative relationships with students, supporting their progression toward on-time graduation.

You will provide individual and group advising, conduct progress evaluations, and coordinate services that promote student success and retention. This role requires strong communication, organizational skills, and the ability to work with diverse student populations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Three years of combined experience in recruiting/advising/coordination or Title IV grant programs.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Willingness to travel.
• Experience with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic advisement for Talent Development students through appreciative advising.
• Conduct weekly individual and group meetings with Talent Development students.
• Perform Progress Check Point evaluations for Talent Development students.
• Assist in development/coordination of support services to aid transition, first-year experience, and retention.
• Maintain confidential records and documentation for Talent Development students.
• Build a network of contacts and resources.
• Develop resources supporting student success, including financial aid.
