Job summary

High Tech High is seeking an HR Specialist (Recruiting focus) to partner with hiring managers, implement an ATS, and manage onboarding, benefits, and leave of absences. This on-campus, in-person role supports onboarding, verifies credentials, and ensures compliant processes in a fast-paced educational environment.

The role collaborates with the Central Management Team, oversees applicant tracking, and determines salary placement for offers while guiding new hires through benefits and payroll

Qualifications

• 2 years of experience in Human Resources
• School payroll experience a plus
• Strong computer skills including spreadsheets
• Excellent written, verbal, and communication skills
• Keen attention to detail with data integrity
• Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work independently and in a team
• Results-driven with professionalism
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Excellent Customer Service skills
• Basic knowledge of benefit administration
• Basic knowledge of leave of absences in California
• Understanding of CA labor laws as it relates to exempt/non-exempt employees

Responsibilities

• Onboard new staff and coordinate onboarding processes
• Manage employee leaves of absence and workers’ compensation reporting
• Evaluate degrees, transcripts, and verifications; advise on postings
• Administer salary placement for offers
• Oversee applicant tracking and onboarding document updates
• Assist with health benefits open enrollment and employee counseling
• Collaborate with management to resolve issues and ensure compliant processes
• Commit to providing a positive candidate and new hire experience
• Support credential verifications as needed
• Regularly partner with hiring managers across departments
