Progress Industries is seeking a Human Resources professional based in Newton, IA, with about 60% of duties in Newton and travel to the Des Moines office two days per week (roughly 40%).

The role emphasizes recruitment and talent acquisition (interviewing, onboarding, background checks, career fairs) while handling general HR administration and employee relations. Regular office presence is required, Mon-Thu 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-12pm.

Qualifications

• Recruiting experience is required and central to the role.
• Ability to interview, screen, and onboard new hires.
• Conduct background checks and participate in career fairs.
• Coordinate with colleges for recruitment and partnerships.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle HR tasks with accuracy.
• Proficient computer skills to complete job duties.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, interview, screen and perform background checks.
• Participate in career fairs & partner with colleges for recruitment.
• Process new employee information.
• Maintain and audit agency personnel files and monitor corrections.
• Attend and participate in team meetings.
• Send initial COBRA notifications to qualified employees.
• Order and inventory Polk supplies (office, bathroom, kitchen, snacks).
• Perform office tasks, including being at the office Mon-Thu 8am-5pm, Fri 8am-12pm.
• Other duties assigned.
