Umanitek is seeking a Takedown Operations Specialist to own content removal efforts, working with technology and partners to protect clients from impersonation, scams and digital abuse.

You will conduct end-to-end investigations, collect evidence, and submit formal requests while prioritizing urgent cases and maintaining detailed records. Strong English writing and OSINT capability are essential for success in this role.

Umanitek is building a digital immune system to protect people and organizations from online threats, including impersonation, fraud, deepfakes, harassment and other forms of digital abuse. Our Guardian platform continuously monitors digital threats, collects evidence and supports their removal across social media platforms and the wider internet. We are looking for a Takedown Operations Specialist to take ownership of our content removal operations, working closely with our technology, internal team and external partners to protect our clients.

Responsibilities

Manage content removal cases end to end, from assessing threats and collecting evidence to submitting requests, following up and escalating unresolved cases.

Investigate impersonation, scams, deepfakes, harassment and other harmful online activity, including conducting manual searches to identify threats missed by automated monitoring.

Evaluate cases against platform policies and applicable regulations to determine appropriate removal strategies.

Prepare formal reports, complaints and appeals, including supporting evidence and documentation.

Prioritize urgent client cases, maintain accurate case records and track removal outcomes.

Develop and maintain expertise in content enforcement policies and reporting procedures across social media platforms, websites and online services.

Build and manage relationships with external takedown providers, platform contacts and escalation partners.

Research alternative removal mechanisms, including hosting providers, domain registrars and relevant legal or regulatory channels.

Identify effective approaches to difficult cases and improve removal success rates.

Work with engineering to test and improve Guardian's automated takedown workflows, evidence collection and case management tools.

Identify operational gaps and opportunities for automation, including improvements to threat classification and takedownability scoring.

Develop standardized reporting procedures and documentation to improve efficiency and scalability.

Monitor takedown performance, identify recurring challenges and recommend improvements.

Qualifications

The candidate has held the job title Takedown Operations Specialist or its equivalent.

Experience in Trust & Safety, online brand protection, content enforcement, cyber investigations or a related field.

Practical knowledge of content reporting, appeals and removal procedures across major social media platforms.

Strong investigative and analytical skills, including the ability to assess sensitive or ambiguous content.

Excellent written English and ability to prepare professional reports and formal complaints.

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple cases independently.

Proactive, resourceful and persistent approach to solving complex problems.

Comfortable working with digital investigation tools, AI-assisted workflows and case management systems.

Experience handling impersonation, deepfakes, non-consensual intimate imagery, fraud or online reputation threats.

Familiarity with OSINT techniques, privacy regulations and digital rights enforcement.

Established relationships with platform enforcement teams or takedown providers.

Experience with workflow automation and testing technical products.

Additional languages, particularly Portuguese or Spanish.

The candidate is required to work remotely.
