Job description

Job Title: Registered Nurse - Emergency Department

The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Department provides both direct and indirect patient care. He/She applies the nursing process to plan and implement patient care, including patient and family education and continuum of care planning. The RN must possess good communication skills to effectively communicate with physicians, peers, patients, and families. He/She works collaboratively with all healthcare team members to ensure the delivery of quality care.

Essential Functions

1. Providing nursing care appropriate to the condition and needs of the patient.
2. Consulting and collaborating with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
3. Establishing, reviewing, revising, and following the patient plan of care.
4. Administering medications and treatments within the scope of practice.
5. Recording patient care activities, including assessments and ongoing treatment notes.
6. Using various computer systems and operating medical equipment.
7. Providing patient and family education about treatment, diagnosis, medications, discharge, and self-care.
8. Following nursing standards of care to promote excellent outcomes and patient safety.
9. Adhering to established Standards of Performance.

Qualifications

Minimum Education: Active TN RN license or a compact state license with the intent to obtain a TN RN license within 30 days of hire.

Required Skills: Current BLS/CPR certification within 12 months of hire; ACLS, PALS, HWC certifications within 12 months of hire.

Additional Requirements

Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English, work under pressure, adapt quickly to changing situations, and work independently and dependently in various settings.
