Job Description

This role is categorized as hybrid. The successful candidate is expected to report to Warren – GM Global Technical Center three times per week or as dictated by business needs.

Working cross-functionally with Purchasing, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Containerization, Logistics, and GM assembly/manufacturing plants, this role facilitates critical supply issues and business transfers. The team addresses short-term capacity issues caused by broken tools, equipment failures, fires, floods, and supplier shortages.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Support and lead conference calls regarding business transfers and critical supply issues.
  2. Act as a liaison between purchasing, engineering, manufacturing, logistics, and suppliers to resolve issues and provide technical support.
  3. Identify causes of supplier delivery problems and coordinate effective, timely resolutions.
  4. Assist in developing and implementing corrective actions for critical issues.
  5. Enhance supplier delivery performance by identifying process improvements and lead time reductions.
  6. Participate as a member or resource in product development teams.
  7. Exchange information regularly with internal teams and external partners, including GM and supplier facilities.
  8. Collaborate with the Supplier Risk Management team regarding financially troubled suppliers.
  9. Keep management updated frequently, based on issue urgency.

This position may be eligible for relocation benefits.

Required Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of relevant post-graduate experience in purchasing, supply chain, manufacturing, program/product management, logistics, or product development.
  • Expect to travel 75% or more.
  • Provide executive reports as required.
Education
  • Minimum: Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Preferred: Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related advanced degree.
