We are currently seeking a Lecturer –Hairdressing to join The Bedford College Group.
- Teaching, Assessment & Internal Verification - Deliver high-quality Hairdressing and Barbering programmes, assess and internally verify learner work, meet awarding body requirements, and support students to achieve their full potential.
- Curriculum Planning & Student Progress - Develop engaging schemes of work and learning resources, monitor and record learner progress, conduct academic reviews, and ensure students meet required standards and deadlines.
- Quality, Compliance & Professional Development - Participate in internal verification and quality assurance processes, maintain current industry knowledge through CPD, and ensure all programmes meet awarding body and college standards.
- Learner Engagement & Industry Links - Enhance the student experience through employer engagement, work experience opportunities, educational visits, enrichment activities, and the promotion of Hairdressing and Barbering programmes.
- Safeguarding, Inclusion & Professional Responsibilities - Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion, maintain safe and positive learning environments, complete administrative duties, and uphold college policies and professional standards.
- Qualifications & Specialist Knowledge – Relevant degree and/or Level 5 qualification in English, with GCSE Maths and English, and strong knowledge of SEND, inclusive practice and teaching learners with additional needs. Commitment to achieving teaching qualifications and ongoing professional development.
- Teaching & SEND Experience – Recent experience teaching and assessing learners at Entry Level and above, including students with learning difficulties and disabilities. Experience delivering GCSE and Functional Skills English, developing engaging learning approaches and supporting learner achievement.
- Teaching, Digital & Learner Support Skills – Strong planning, classroom management and organisational skills, with the ability to support high-needs learners, adapt to changing priorities and confidently use Microsoft Office, Teams and digital learning tools.
- Communication & Collaborative Working – Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to build positive relationships across the college, contribute effective solutions and enhance student learning experience through supportive and inclusive practice.

Bedford College has a number of sites across the town and surrounding areas, these include our main Cauldwell Street campus in the heart of the town, our hair and beauty salon on the High Street, the advanced automotive centre on Brunel Road and the gas and technology plumbing centre in Kempston.
