Job summary

Burns & McDonnell in Akron, OH is seeking an Engineering Intern to apply standard engineering techniques, assist lead engineers, and support design, documentation and data tasks across market segments.

You will complete tasks like filing, data entry, preparing PowerPoint presentations, and research solutions, with opportunities to participate in continuous improvement and campus/community activities; a 3.0 GPA is preferred.

Qualifications

• Pursuit of a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or a related field from a recognized, accredited program required.
• ABET accreditation strongly preferred.
• Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
• Actively involved in campus, community or other volunteer activities or organizations.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
• Basic knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Self-motivated and eager learner, aptitude to grow and develop within the field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with filing, scanning, data entry and PowerPoint presentations.
• Assist with responses to general questions and documentation.
• Participate in continuous improvement by collecting and analyzing data.
• Present solutions to project concerns.
• Research solutions to project concerns; analyze and recommend solutions to problems.
• Assist with ad hoc projects as assigned by managers.
• Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
• Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
