Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Systems Storage Administration Advisor to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position can be worked remotely. The qualified candidate will become part of Peraton's Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Infrastructure Managed Services (IMS) Program, for the US Coast Guard (CG). This initiative is modernizing and consolidating the operational environment under a common technology framework to better support the services provided to CG's customers.

Day-to-Day Work Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing technical oversight of hardware and software systems, focusing on Storage Area Network engineering.
  • Providing professional service within the parameters specified in the site's service level agreement and/or that meet or exceed customer requirements.
  • Ensuring system security in compliance with customer policy, including patching and auditing.
  • Implementing and maintaining network standards and guidelines. Designing and reviewing reliable backup and recovery capabilities.
  • Developing an automated environment including reporting, event notifications and actions, software updates, and service packs.
  • Monitoring system utilization, including data storage management, performance metrics, and service levels.
  • Reporting on capacity and proactively planning for capacity.
  • Coordinating and communicating activities, status updates, outage notifications, and schedule information.
  • Performing account maintenance.
  • Ensuring reliable backup and recovery of necessary data.
  • Managing software installations and upgrades.
  • Applying patches and ensuring IAVA compliance.
  • Maintaining and documenting SAN cabling plans.
  • Installing, configuring, administering, and optimizing servers (hardware and operating systems).
  • Interfacing with users as an integral part of this role.
  • Maintaining network system documentation.
  • Collaborating with Enterprise Architects to develop roadmaps and modernization efforts.
  • Proficiency in cloud storage technologies.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Business Management, Information Systems, Information Technology, Engineering or related field and 8 years of experience, or a high school diploma/equivalent and 12 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with backup software technologies (e.g., CommVault, NetApp).
  • Experience with storage hardware technologies.
  • Experience with SAN fabric technologies.
  • Knowledge of iSCSI and Fiber Channel infrastructure.
  • Experience with ticketing systems and incident management in a large Windows-based environment.
  • Experience with collecting and reporting ticket metrics.
  • Experience interfacing with customer senior leadership.
  • U.S. Citizenship and active Secret clearance required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Familiarity with DOD IT security requirements.
