Job summary

Howard University Hospital is seeking a Systems Operations Manager to lead enterprise infrastructure operations, guiding a systems engineering team across data center, virtualization, storage, and hybrid cloud environments. This role partners with Security, clinical tech teams, and senior IT leadership to ensure reliability and modernization.

You will oversee IAM, DR planning, vendor management, and governance while reporting on performance metrics and strategic initiatives to executives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field required.
• Master's degree in Information Systems, Healthcare Informatics, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
• 10+ years in systems administration, infrastructure engineering, or enterprise operations.
• 3–5 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
• Healthcare IT experience preferred and hybrid cloud experience desirable.
• Strong background in Windows/Linux, virtualization, storage, and cloud platforms.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise infrastructure operations including servers, OS, virtualization, storage, and hybrid cloud.
• Supervise Systems Engineers and staff, including hiring, coaching, and performance management.
• Ensure high availability and performance of clinical and administrative systems.
• Develop modernization roadmaps and cloud adoption strategies.
• Manage hybrid cloud environments (Azure, AWS, VMware).
• Set monitoring, patching, automation, and configuration controls.
• Oversee Active Directory, Azure AD, SSO, MFA IAM systems.
• Lead disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity planning.
• Coordinate with Information Security on controls and compliance.
• Oversee incident response, capacity planning, and budget forecasting.
• Maintain runbooks, governance, and vendor contracts.
