Job summary

Incendia Partners in Manhattan seeks a Systems Lead to own IT and internal systems end-to-end, including the macOS fleet, networking/VPN, SaaS access, and SOC 2 compliance in Vanta. This is a build role, sitting alongside executive leadership to establish IT operations, security, and processes from scratch as the company scales.

Job description

Our client, a rapidly growing, vc-backed (series B) tech company in Manhattan is looking for a Systems Lead! This role will own IT and internal systems end to end: the macOS fleet and full device lifecycle, networking/VPN and remote access, SaaS access and permissions across the stack, and day-to-day SOC 2 compliance in Vanta. It also sits directly alongside executive leadership as the go-to advisor on cybersecurity and IT infrastructure, and supports a hybrid team that is roughly two-thirds in office.

The organization is backed by top-tier VC firms and a group of well-known unicorn founders and operators, and is poised to grow rapidly. Leadership is looking for someone who can build out IT process and infrastructure as the company scales and serve as a genuine business partner to the executive team on what best-in-class IT operations, systems, and security look like at this stage. This is a build role, not a maintain role: they want someone to stand this function up from scratch rather than inherit a mature environment.

What You'll Do

• Devices & Endpoint Management — Own the hardware lifecycle end to end: procurement, imaging, enrollment, patching, and offboarding across a primarily macOS fleet.
• Networking & VPN — Administer office networking, VPN, and remote access so that in-office and distributed employees alike have reliable, secure connectivity.
• Security & Compliance (SOC 2) — Manage day-to-day IT compliance in coordination with the company's external audit partner and internal security engineering lead. Vanta serves as the system of record for SOC 2 controls, evidence collection, and remediation tracking.
• Access & Systems Administration — Own access provisioning, site and system permissions, group policy, and identity management across the SaaS stack — right-sizing access as headcount grows.
• Cybersecurity — Take a broad view of security posture: endpoint protection, phishing and awareness training, incident response, and vendor security review. Deep cybersecurity experience is welcome but not required; the company will support you in growing here.
• IT Infrastructure Buildout — Design and scale the IT foundation for a fast-growing organization, standing up tooling and process where little exists today.
• Hybrid Enablement & AV — Roughly one third of the team is remote and two thirds are in office. You'll make sure both groups can communicate effectively and operate as one cohesive culture, including owning AV setup for hybrid meetings and conference rooms.
• Executive Partnership — Advise the finance lead and other members of executive leadership on IT infrastructure and cybersecurity, translating technical risk into business terms and bringing best practices to the table proactively.
• Internal IT Support & Process — Serve as the first point of contact for employees on their tech stack — onboarding, troubleshooting, and enablement — while building the documentation and process that make support repeatable.

Qualifications

• 5+ Years of IT experience, preferably in a growth company
• Hands-on experience administering SaaS tools and access controls.
• Familiarity with security best practices (MFA, least privilege, device security).
• Experience building out IT infrastructure in a growing organization, including standing up systems and process from scratch.
• Organized, reliable, and comfortable owning operational responsibility.
• Excellent communication and soft skills. This role sits close to leadership and touches every employee, so the ability to partner with executives and patiently support non-technical teammates matters as much as technical depth.
• Experience supporting a hybrid workforce, including conference room and AV setup, is a plus.
• Broader cybersecurity experience is a plus, but not a requirement.
