Job summary

Apex Systems is seeking a Systems Functional Analyst III to support functional design, business process analysis, and system validation across enterprise platforms, with a focus on Salesforce migrations and cross‑functional coordination.

You will translate business requirements into functional designs, develop tests, lead sessions, document defects in Jira, and ensure changes meet objectives while maintaining thorough documentation and stakeholder alignment.

Qualifications

Job Description

The Systems Functional Analyst III will support functional design, business process analysis, system validation, and cross-functional coordination across enterprise platforms and transformation initiatives. This individual will serve as a liaison among business stakeholders, product owners, technical teams, and system subject‑matter experts, translating business requirements into functional designs, technical specifications, test scenarios, and acceptance criteria.

The role is hands‑on and execution‑focused, with an immediate emphasis on supporting platform migration activities and validating Salesforce‑based functionality. The analyst will help lead testing and validation efforts, facilitate working sessions, document and track defects, and ensure system changes align with business objectives and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner with business representatives, product owners, system subject‑matter experts, and technical delivery teams to define business processes, requirements, system changes, and expected outcomes.
• Develop, assemble, review, and maintain functional design documents and detailed technical specifications.
• Translate business requirements and user stories into clear workflows, test scenarios, test cases, expected results, and acceptance criteria.
• Schedule and facilitate working sessions with business and technology stakeholders.
• Present functional designs and testing results to business and IT leadership.
• Manage changes to functional design documents as requirements evolve.
• Develop and execute comprehensive system, integration, regression, end‑to‑end, and user acceptance testing plans.
• Validate Salesforce functionality, platform migration activities, business processes, data, integrations, and overall system behavior.
• Reproduce, document, prioritize, and track system defects using Jira.
• Retest corrections and enhancements to confirm they meet business requirements and do not negatively affect related processes.
• Coordinate test participants, test data, system dependencies, issue follow‑up, and project status updates.
• Identify process gaps, control risks, duplicate effort, and opportunities to standardize or improve workflows.
• Create process documentation, job aids, checklists, release summaries, and training materials for impacted users.
• Provide clear reporting on testing progress, defects, risks, decisions, and business readiness.
• Provide guidance and knowledge‑sharing support to peers and less‑experienced functional analysts.
• Assist IT and business leadership in understanding functional designs and resolving requirement or project conflicts.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• At least three years of experience in functional analysis, business analysis, systems testing, process analysis, user acceptance testing, or implementation support.
• Experience creating functional design documents, technical specifications, test cases, and system test plans.
• Hands‑on experience using Salesforce and Jira.
• Demonstrated ability to understand both business processes and technical system behavior.
• Experience documenting expected versus actual results and managing defects through resolution.
• Ability to translate business needs into requirements, workflows, test scenarios, user stories, and acceptance criteria.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and structured problem‑solving skills.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate documentation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues in practical business terms.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and follow through on open issues in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft 365 applications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Eight or more years of experience performing functional design, systems analysis, testing, or related responsibilities in a senior or lead capacity.
• Experience supporting enterprise platform migrations, major system implementations, or functional releases.
• Experience with SAP, Salesforce, dealer‑facing platforms, subscription platforms, or comparable enterprise applications.
• Familiarity with system integrations, APIs, data validation, and end‑to‑end process testing.
• Experience working in Agile or SAFe environments.
• Experience reviewing user stories and developing corresponding acceptance criteria.
• Experience supporting customer, dealer, warranty, coverage, billing, finance, or subscription‑related processes.
• Experience creating process maps, operating procedures, training materials, and standard work documentation.
• Previous experience guiding junior analysts or coordinating the work of other project participants.
