Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to drive design, development, verification and integration of complex aerospace systems. You will translate high-level mission objectives into clear architectures, interface documents, and integration schedules, coordinating hardware, software, and test teams to ensure performance, safety, and reliability.

LM Space is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the design, development, verification, and integration of complex aerospace and space systems, translating high level mission objectives into clear system architectures, interface control documents, and integration schedules.


This role helps coordinate hardware, software, and test teams to ensure that every subsystem meets rigorous performance, safety, and reliability criteria while complying with all relevant regulations. The engineer is responsible for system level test planning and execution, configuration baseline management. The position requires extensive collaboration with the overall program team.

The information below includes the standard job description for this position


Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that perform IT responsibilities, use E646, Systems Engr-IT.


Basic Qualifications


  • Experience with military or space mission programs.

  • Experience Using DOORS and/or DOORS NG

  • Experience with SysML

  • Exposure to MBSE tools such as Cameo and Rhapsody

  • Prior Experience working with RAPT-2 or other IGNITE programs is highly desirable

  • Design Reference Mission (DRM)

  • Systems Thinking - Ability to view the system holistically and understand interdependencies across hardware, software, and operations.

  • Detail‑Oriented - Meticulous at maintaining end‑to‑end requirement traceability from stakeholder need through verification evidence.

  • Problem Solving -Proactive in identifying gaps, proposing solutions, and driving decisions forward.

  • Collaboration - Works effectively in multidisciplinary teams and fosters a culture of shared ownership.

  • Adaptability -Comfortable operating in a dynamic R&D environment where requirements may evolve rapidly.

Full-Time Salary Range: $95900.00 - $178100.00
