Job summary

Lockheed Martin Space invites experienced Systems Engineer-IT candidates to join our team in delivering secure, reliable IT infrastructure for space programs. You will manage server, application, and network environments, implement automation, and help safeguard systems against threats.

Ideal candidates have strong virtualization, Linux/Windows administration, scripting skills, and active TS/SCI clearance. This role supports complex space initiatives and requires US citizenship.

Qualifications

  • Virtualization experience and Linux/Windows system administration.
  • Scripting ability (Bash, Ansible) to automate tasks.
  • IT security hardening and management including Trellix; TS/SCI clearance required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide systems (server/application/network) administration for development and production environments.
  • Perform COTS hardware/software integration, testing and verification.
  • Support security activities including vulnerability management, access control and auditing.
  • Support operational site in using the deployed baseline.
  • Develop and support automation (Python/Bash/Ansible).
  • Document defects and collaborate with the technical team on solutions.

As a Systems Engineer-IT, You Will
  • Provide systems (server/application/network) administration of the development and production environments
  • Perform COTS hardware/software integration, testing and verification
  • Support system security activities including vulnerability management, access control and authentication, file system security, system hardening, compliance and auditing
  • Support operational site in use of the deployed baseline
  • Perform automation development and support activities (Python/Bash/Ansible scripting)
  • Documenting defects in discrepancy reports and collaborating with technical team on solutions

The information below reflects the standard job description for this position:

Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems, and information technology related responsibilities including design, development, and analysis of computer systems or programs based on and related to user or system design specifications; applying systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications. For positions that do not perform IT responsibilities, use E146, Systems Engineer.

Basic Qualifications
  • Virtualization experience
  • Linux and Windows systems administration capabilities for configuration and management, package management and software installation, troubleshooting/performance optimization, security support tasks
  • Ability to script (e.g., Bash, Ansible) to automate tasks and workflows
  • Ability to perform IT environment hardening/security management, including administration of Trellix
  • Security + or CISSP Certifications or other certification that fulfills DOD 8570 requirements
  • Must have an active Top Secret with ability to obtain and maintain SCI security clearance. (Must be a US citizen)
Desired Skills
  • VMWare/ESXi/vSphere experience
  • NetApp experience
  • System administration experience
  • Experience implementing and managing STIGs
  • Software installations, account management (Active Directory & Group Policy), virtualization, networking, hardware design, procurement and installation, systems engineering, test and verification.
  • Proficient in AI prompting as it applies to this position and practice

Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $79300.00 - $147300.00

Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
