Job summary
Everforth Apex is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to enhance the reliability and scalability of complex distributed systems in a demanding environment. You will support, migrate, automate, and optimize the software development and deployment lifecycle while maturing the enterprise SRE program.
The role requires a BS degree with 2–4 years of relevant experience, strong CI/CD, IaC, and cloud skills, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and on-call. Onsite location in Norfolk, VA, US.

- 2–4 years of relevant experience or a Master’s with <2 years of relevant experience.
- Must have IAT Level II Certification before onboarding.
- Experience with Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP/WINS.
- Experience with Windows Server 2016–2025 and SQL Server 2019–2025.
- Proficient in scripting (PowerShell, Python) and CI/CD tooling (Jenkins, GitLab).
- Experience with IaC and cloud platforms (Terraform, CloudFormation, AWS/Azure).
- Familiarity with OpenShift/Kubernetes, Docker, and RMF/DevSecOps concepts.
Responsibilities
- Ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of distributed systems.
- Support, migrate, automate, and optimize software development and deployment processes.
- Develop features using AI coding tools and script repositories to automate cloud infra and pipelines.
- Improve monitoring with Splunk and dashboard reporting; identify performance bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with SREs, developers, and operations to meet reliability goals.
- Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites integrated into CI/CD pipelines.
- Validate SLIs/SLOs and ensure monitoring/logging/alerts function under failure conditions.
- Provide on-call support and be willing to work nights and weekends.

Systems Engineer MID - Data Services IDAM
Candidates must be U.S. citizens able to obtain and/or maintain a Department of Defense security clearance as a condition and continuation of employment.
An opening is available for a Site Reliability Engineer to focus on the reliability, performance, and scalability of complex distributed systems. This role is responsible for supporting, migrating, automating, and optimizing the software development and deployment process. The engineer will also contribute to the overall maturity of the Site Reliability Engineering program and support the creation, maintenance, update, and modernization of the enterprise network.
- Test, maintain, troubleshoot, develop, and deliver solutions associated with Active Directory, Azure, Delinea, Ansible, Microsoft Identity Manager (MIM), Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), DHCP, DNS, WINS, and GPOs.
- Work alongside development and operations teams to ensure reliable software deployments and monitor systems to improve platform reliability.
- Develop features using AI coding tools and a repository of scripts to automate, scale, test, and secure the cloud infrastructure and pipelines.
- Enhance performance monitoring of various systems via Splunk or other dashboard reporting tools.
- Identify and optimize performance bottlenecks in the cloud infrastructure.
- Contribute to the SRE journey by suggesting ways to improve engineering build, maintenance, automation, and reliability with SRE/DevOps tools and Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Develop and execute test strategies that simulate real-world failure scenarios, including network disruptions, hardware failures, and system overloads.
- Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites for infrastructure and application components, ensuring integration into the CI/CD pipeline.
- Collaborate with SREs, developers, and operations teams to define reliability goals and develop testing strategies to validate those goals.
- Ensure that new services and features undergo thorough testing for performance, reliability, and failure recovery before deployment to production.
- Validate that monitoring, logging, and alerting mechanisms are functioning correctly by testing systems under failure conditions.
- Ensure that Service Level Indicators (SLIs) and Service Level Objectives (SLOs) are accurately measured and tracked through automated testing frameworks.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and provide on-call support as needed.
Education: Requires a BS degree.
Experience: Requires 2-4 years of prior relevant experience or a Master’s degree with less than 2 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of an IAT Level II Certification is required prior to onboarding and must be maintained.
- Familiarity designing, configuring, and managing Active Directory, Group Policy Objects, DNS, DHCP, and WINS.
- Experience with Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022 / 2025.
- Experience with SQL Server 2019 / 2022 / 2025.
- Experience with automated script design, coding, debugging, and maintenance skills (e.g., bash, python).
- Experience in CI/CD toolsets (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab).
- Command of Linux/Unix and command line knowledge.
- Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
- Knowledge of Agile and DevSecOps/SRE concepts and best practices.
- Experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket).
- Experience creating JIRA and/or Azure DevOps workflows, projects, and custom configurations.
- Experience administrating/maintaining SRE platforms via Ansible playbooks.
- Experience in automating tasks with scripting languages like PowerShell or Python.
- Experience integrating/maintaining with CI/CD tools like Jenkins and GitLab.
- Experience with PaaS using Red Hat OpenShift/Kubernetes and Docker containers.
- Experience with commercial cloud infrastructure deployment environments such as AWS and Azure.
- Experience with automated provisioning and configuration tools like Terraform, Cloud Formation, Chef, Puppet, or Ansible.
- Working knowledge of the Risk Management Framework (RMF).
- Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation for automating test environments.
- ITILv4, Scrum Master, or Agile SAFe certification(s) or applicable experience.
- Familiarity with designing, configuring, and managing FIM 2010 R2/MIM 2016 synchronization.
- Familiarity with VB.NET.
- Familiarity designing, configuring, and managing Delinea.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Active Directory Federated Services structure.
- Familiarity with Cloud Engineering.
- Familiarity with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) certificates.
