Job summary

SAIC is seeking a System Engineer to support USTRANSCOM at Scott AFB, IL. The role involves maintaining and operating network servers, virtualization, and supporting software/hardware in a DoD IT services setting.

The candidate will install, configure, and test operating systems, monitor performance, ensure security and backups, and provide 2nd/3rd level support. On-call work and collaboration with vendors are required.

Qualifications

• BA/BS degree and 4+ years of experience.
• DoD Secret Clearance required.
• IAT Level II certs: Security+ CE, CySA+, GICSP, GSEC, CND, SSCP.
• CE cert for network/defense or related area.
• Experience with Windows Server 2012/2016.
• Experience with Azure or AWS.
• Experience with Linux.
• On-call availability.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• LDAP/Kerberos/Active Directory knowledge.
• Desirable: MCP, C+ / Network+ / Security+, AWS, Azure.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor all installed systems and infrastructure.
• Install, configure, test, and maintain OS, apps and tools.
• Ensure highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability.
• Monitor app performance, identify bottlenecks, coordinate fixes with developers.
• Maintain security, backups, and redundancy strategies.
• Assist in designing information and operational support systems.
• Provide 2nd and 3rd level support.
• Liaise with vendors and IT staff for resolutions.
• System vulnerability remediation and reporting.
• System configuration and compliance.
• Experience with UNIX/Linux/RedHat environments.
