Job summary

Waters is seeking a client-oriented engineer to contribute to development of automated lab instruments in a high-visibility program. The role emphasizes solving complex technical problems, validating designs, and collaborating across R&D, engineering, and quality domains. The position requires a B.S./M.S.

in engineering or sciences, with experience in lab automation and at least two years in related work. On-site collaboration at the Sparks, MD site is expected, with standard in‑office presence

Qualifications

• B.S. or M.S in Engineering or Sciences.
• Experience in the development of Lab or Industrial Automation equipment and instrumentation preferred.
• Minimum of two years relevant experience or a combination of education and experience.
• Experience within vitro diagnostic support/development preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides technical solutions to a wide range of difficult problems.
• Contributes to the completion and support of programs, including product conceptualization and development.
• Manages product requirements and high-level design specifications under supervision.
• Evaluates problems and applies analytical principles to fulfill project objectives.
• Develops and tests subsystem workflow logic for instrument functions and theory of operation.
• Performs analyses of automated systems, timing, control systems, and critical parameters.
