This is position is located in Bureau of IT Infrastructure & Operations, Richland County. This is an in-office role and not a telecommute or remote position.
We are looking for a Systems Engineer II who, under minimal supervision, is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of enterprise infrastructure and systems technologies. The Systems Engineer II ensures platforms are secure, scalable, and aligned with organizational and security requirements. Responsibilities include managing system configurations, automation, patching, deployment solutions, monitoring, and performance optimization across virtual and physical environments. The role serves as a technical resource for both project-based and operational efforts, collaborating with cross-functional teams, vendors, and end users. The incumbent will be a subject matter expert in their domain, which may include System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM) / Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM), and is expected to mentor junior staff and contribute to strategic infrastructure initiatives.
A bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and experience in computer system development and modification.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered with prior State Human Resources approval.
