Job summary

Norway Savings Bank in Norway, ME is seeking a Systems Engineer II to join the ITS team, focused on securing, stabilizing, and modernizing our technology infrastructure.

You'll manage virtual servers, cloud services, identity and access, backups, and DR, working with VMware, Citrix, Azure, M365, and Entra ID, while enabling AI initiatives like Copilot with solid security and governance. This role emphasizes collaboration, problem solving, and proactive improvements.

Qualifications

• Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Technology from an accredited college or equivalent work experience.
• Understanding of Microsoft Server, Windows 11, Active Directory, Exchange, SQL, M365, Copilot, Azure and AntiVirus software administration.
• Deep understanding of Virtualization Technology, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, and Storage Area Networks.

Responsibilities

• Determine system specifications and design, implement, and plan software/hardware upgrades to the system infrastructure.
• Monitor and maintain server backup and server disaster recovery systems.
• Ensure software license compliance for the systems in the organization.
• Plan and perform Application and System upgrades/updates.
• Ensure all servers are fully functional and secure at all times.
• Ensure all network security software applications are functioning correctly.
• Escalate issues to appropriate staff and/or vendors as needed.
• Respond to health and performance monitoring alerts for all systems.
• Ensure all systems and hardware are up to date with regard to OS patches and vendor updates.
• Maintain application servers including vendor updates and new software installations.
• Continually practice proper security procedures with respect to Internet access, data access, anti-virus protection, user password protection, file system rights and permissions, and intrusion detection.
• Evaluate, manage and implement vendor contracts and agreements to assure proper requirements and services are provided.
• Work with other IT personnel in problem resolution and assist with level 2 help desk support requests.
• Support Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, licensing, service health, administration, security, and integration with identity and endpoint-management services.
• Support Microsoft Copilot and other approved AI capabilities through technical readiness, licensing, configuration, access management, service monitoring, troubleshooting, adoption support, and coordination with data governance, privacy, security, compliance, and legal requirements.
• Ensure compliance with established information security policies, procedures and regulations.
• Keep up to date with new IT technologies, methods and best practices.

Norway Savings Bank is seeking an experienced Systems Engineer II to join our ITS team, based out of our office in Norway, ME.

Stepping into this position, you’ll play a key role in keeping the Bank’s technology infrastructure secure, reliable, resilient and performing at its best. You’ll help manage and support our virtual server, cloud, identity, remote access, and enterprise application environments, working with technologies including VMware, Citrix, Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365, and Microsoft Entra ID.

From implementing and upgrading systems to monitoring performance, managing backups and replication, you’ll help ensure our employees have secure and dependable access to the systems and data they rely on every day. This role will also have the opportunity to support the Bank’s evolving use of artificial intelligence technologies, including Microsoft Copilot and other approved AI-enabled solutions.

You’ll help build the technical foundation for the responsible adoption of these tools by supporting areas such as configuration, identity and access, licensing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and data protection, while partnering with security, compliance, data and business teams. As a resource within our collaborative ITS team, you’ll serve as an escalation point for more complex issues, share your expertise through cross-training, and contribute to a variety of technology projects and initiatives.

What You’ll Bring:

• Responsibilities may require evening and weekend work to meet the needs of systems being maintained or for trouble resolution.

Pay: Position starts at $65,000 per year with flexibility commensurate with experience.

Working Conditions:

Physical surroundings are generally pleasant and comfortable with minimal exposure to injury or other hazards. Minimal physical effort required; normally seated with freedom of movement on a regular basis. Some handling of light materials and supplies.
