Job summary

The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) invites professionals to join the Human System Engineering team to design and implement military systems. You will work cross-functionally to develop human-machine warfighting capabilities and bridge gaps in system design for DoD programs.

You will lead tasks spanning requirements, concepts, and user interfaces, while shaping research in human-machine collaboration and automation.

Qualifications

  • Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Systems Engineering, Civil Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Possess passion for building team culture, driving innovation, and executing strategic initiatives.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a SECRET level security clearance.
  • At least 2 years of experience related to systems engineering and design of complex systems.
  • Experience with task analyses and task flows.
  • Experience with system requirements.
  • Proven ability to write and submit proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Support the design and development of current and future systems using systems and mission engineering practices.
  • Facilitate warfighter engagement in system design and development.
  • Collaborate with engineers to generate human-system designs and concepts and develop requirements.
  • Provide technical direction for military system development and review feedback on designs.
  • Develop and lead fast-paced research projects in human-machine team behavior and AI-enabled systems.
  • Shape research vision and strategy and report accomplishments to sponsors.
