Job summary

Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking a Hardware Systems Engineer to design, review, and evolve distributed C2 systems for DoD applications. You will review hardware, embedded systems, and architectures, ensuring performance and test coverage across complex digital hardware.

The role emphasizes system integration, obsolescence analysis, and collaboration within a team of engineers. APL offers challenging projects and opportunities to work on mission-critical defense programs

Qualifications

  • B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience (hardware, systems, embedded, or related).
  • Skilled in digital hardware or circuit card design, embedded/real-time systems, and systems engineering for complex systems.
  • Willing to travel up to 10% as needed.
  • Ability to obtain Interim Secret and ultimately Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

  • Review and contribute to design and integration of complex digital hardware and embedded systems.
  • Review circuit card schematics, drawings, and test procedures and provide feedback to improve design quality.
  • Support obsolescence analysis and architecture planning for computing hardware and cybersecurity.
  • Participate in systems engineering activities including requirements analysis, architecture definition, and verification planning.
  • Contribute to hardware/software integration and testing, assisting with troubleshooting across hardware/software boundaries.
