Job summary

Captivation Software is seeking a senior level systems engineer to work on the watch floor, monitor system health, and manage data pipelines, incidents, and recovery actions. You will escalate issues, maintain logs and SOPs, and provide clear status updates with efficient handoffs.

The ideal candidate holds a Top Secret/SCI clearance (U.S. citizen) and has extensive SE experience, strong communication, and the ability to lead small WD shift teams while following SOPs in a 24x7 environment.

Qualifications

• Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government clearance with favorable polygraph required.
• Twenty years of Systems Engineering experience in programs of similar scope and complexity.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field; 5 years of additional SE experience may substitute for degree.

Responsibilities

Description

Captivation Software is looking for a senior level systems engineer who will be working on the watch floor and responsible for monitoring system health, availability, performance, and data pipelines; investigating alerts and incidents; performing authorized recovery actions; escalating unresolved issues; maintaining tickets, shift logs, SOPs, metrics, and reports; providing concise status updates and effective shift handoffs.

Requirements

Security Clearance:

• Must currently hold a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable Polygraph, therefore all candidates must be a U.S. citizen

Minimum Qualifications:

• Twenty (20) years-experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required
• Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required.
• Bachelor's degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required
• Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree.
• Security Plus Certification (or willingness to attain within 6 months)

Required Skills:

• Experience with RTRG Mission analytics operation and use
• Monitoring OS and Applications
• Troubleshooting OS and Applications and escalating as required
• Troubleshooting dataflow and escalating as required
• Troubleshooting network issue and escalating as required
• Ability to read a variety of Graphs of systems information and interpret them to discern correct operations
• Good communications skills written and verbal
• Ability to dissect complex issues and generate concise accurate status
• Generating metrics and reports for submission to customers using disparate data sources
• Generating SOPs for use by the members of the Watch desk and/or customers
• Ability to lead small team of WD shift personnel
• Ability to direct and provide meaningful guidance to teammates
• Maintain schedules as required

Required Skills:

• Linux and command-line proficiency; hardware, software, network, and data-flow troubleshooting; clear communication and documentation; ability to follow and maintain SOPs, prioritize incidents, and work independently in a 24×7 environment.
• Jira, Confluence, Rancher, Elasticsearch, Redis, NiFi, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, virtualization, and monitoring tools such as Nagios, Grafana, and Prometheus.

• Annual Salary: $130,000 - $270,000 (Depends on the Years of Experience)
