Job summary

Captivation Software LLC is seeking a senior systems engineer to work on the watch floor, monitoring health, availability and data pipelines, and handling alerts and incidents. The role requires a Top Secret/SCI clearance, US citizenship, and extensive SE experience.

You will escalate issues, maintain SOPs and shift logs, and provide concise status updates. The successful candidate will lead a small watch desk team and contribute to metrics and customer reports, with a strong focus on

Qualifications

• Must hold a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government clearance with favorable polygraph.
• Must be a U.S. citizen as per security requirements.
• Twenty (20) years of SE experience in programs/contracts of similar scope.
• Ability to lead Systems Engineering efforts and manage watch-floor activities.
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent SE-related field; additional SE experience can substitute for degree.
• Security Plus Certification or willingness to attain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Monitor system health, availability, and data pipelines.
• Investigate alerts and incidents; perform authorized recovery actions.
• Escalate unresolved issues; maintain tickets, logs, SOPs, metrics, and reports.
• Provide concise status updates and effective shift handoffs.
• Lead small WD shift teams and provide guidance to teammates.

Captivation Software is looking for a senior level systems engineer who will be working on the watch floor and responsible for monitoring system health, availability, performance, and data pipelines; investigating alerts and incidents; performing authorized recovery actions; escalating unresolved issues; maintaining tickets, shift logs, SOPs, metrics, and reports; providing concise status updates and effective shift handoffs.

Requirements

Security Clearance:

• Must currently hold a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable Polygraph, therefore all candidates must be a U.S. citizen

Minimum Qualifications:

• Twenty (20) years-experience as a SE in programs and contracts of similar scope, type and complexity is required
• Demonstrated experience in planning and leading Systems Engineering efforts is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in System Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering Science, Engineering Management, or related discipline from an accredited college or university is required
• Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
• Security Plus Certification(or willingness to attain within 6 months)

Required Skills:

• Experience with RTRG Mission analytics operation and use
• Monitoring OS and Applications
• Troubleshooting OS and Applications and escalating as required
• Troubleshooting dataflow and escalating as required
• Troubleshooting network issue and escalating as required
• Ability to read a variety of Graphs of systems information and interpret them to discern correct operations
• Good communications skills written and verbal
• Ability to dissect complex issues and generate concise accurate status
• Generating metrics and reports for submission to customers using disparate data sources
• Generating SOPs for use by the members of the Watch desk and/or customers
• Ability to lead small team of WD shift personnel
• Ability to direct and provide meaningful guidance to teammates
• Maintain schedules as required

Required Skills:

• Linux and command-line proficiency; hardware, software, network, and data-flow troubleshooting; clear communication and documentation; ability to follow and maintain SOPs, prioritize incidents, and work independently in a 24×7 environment.
• Jira, Confluence, Rancher, Elasticsearch, Redis, NiFi, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS, virtualization, and monitoring tools such as Nagios, Grafana, and Prometheus.

• Annual Salary: $130,000 - $270,000 (Depends on the Years of Experience)
• Up to 20% 401k contribution (No Matching Required and Vested from Day 1)
