Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • At least 3 years of experience in systems engineering with ALCMS or similar control systems in aviation, including cybersecurity hardening.
  • Experience collaborating with project managers and engineers in team settings.
  • Experience with quality assurance tests and compliance checks against industry standards.
  • Familiarity with low/high voltage electronics and interpreting wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and provide technical support for advanced ALCMS solutions for FAA, US Military, and civilian airports.
  • Support project lifecycle from planning through deployment, including scheduling and resource allocation.
  • Stay updated on ALCMS and control systems trends; suggest improvements for functionality, efficiency, and safety.

The Opportunity

The Systems Engineer is part of our Airfield Lighting Control & Monitoring Systems (ALCMS) team at ADB Safegate, a global leader in intelligent airport solutions. The Systems Engineer leverages their expertise to elevate airport safety and efficiency, impacting over 2,500 airports worldwide.

You will make an impact by….
  • System Integration and Support: Participate in the design, implementation, and technical support of advanced ALCMS solutions for the FAA, US Military and Civilian airports, ensuring they meet operational and cybersecurity requirements and integrate seamlessly with existing airport infrastructure.
  • Project Support: Act as a key team member supporting Project Managers and Project Engineers during the project lifecycle, from planning through to deployment, including scheduling, resource allocation, and on-time delivery within budget.
  • Technological Advancement: Stay abreast of the latest trends and technological advances in ALCMS and broader control systems. Suggest improvements to enhance system functionality, efficiency, and safety.
  • Quality Compliance and Assurance: Support the execution of detailed test plans and conduct system audits to ensure our solutions exceed industry standards and comply with both FAA and ICAO regulations.
  • Customer and Internal Team Training: Assist in developing and delivering effective training programs for both clients and internal teams, ensuring optimal use of our ALCMS solutions.
  • International Collaboration: Participate in global projects, exhibiting cultural sensitivity and effective engagement with diverse teams. Be prepared for domestic and international travel (up to 30% of the time) to support project initiatives and stakeholder meetings.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related disciplines.
  • At least 3 years of experience in systems engineering, with a specific focus on ALCMS or similar control systems within the aviation industry, including hardening systems to meet cybersecurity standards.
  • Experience working in supportive roles in project teams, demonstrating strong collaboration with Project Managers and Engineers.
  • Background in conducting quality assurance tests and compliance checks against industry standards.
  • Familiarity with low and high voltage electronics, ability to interpret wiring diagrams and one-line diagrams. In-depth understanding of computer systems dynamics as they relate to industrial control environments.
  • Proficiency in a variety of development and operational software essential to system configuration and maintenance. This includes familiarity with Microsoft Office for documentation, project planning tools like Visio for schematics, and proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN) to manage configuration changes.
  • Industrial Control Systems: In-depth understanding of control systems programming and experience with Human Machine Interface development for operational control and monitoring functionalities.
  • Networking and Communication: Advanced understanding of network communications principles, including the configuration and setup of network equipment, to ensure reliable data exchange between control systems and operational interfaces.
  • Proficiency with virtualization systems (e.g., VMWare, VirtualBox, Hyper-V) to simulate environments for testing, deployment, and troubleshooting purposes.
  • Good grasp of scripting for automation and configuration tasks. Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) to streamline operations and system maintenance activities.
  • Experience with programming languages such as C# and C++ (desirable).
  • Strong problem-solving skills, capable of breaking down complex issues into manageable parts for effective resolution. Ability to utilize deductive reasoning and analytical methods to diagnose and address technical challenges.
  • Ability to contribute effectively within a project scope, including adhering to schedules, managing tasks, and offering technical insights. Must be capable of working collaboratively with Project Managers, Engineers, and customer representatives to meet project deliverables and milestones.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, crucial for team collaboration, client interaction, and the preparation of technical documentation and training materials. Should have the aptitude to convey complex technical concepts in an understandable manner to non-technical stakeholders.
  • US citizenship and the ability to obtain security clearances and pass through a background check when needed by the US Government.
