Overview

We are looking for a Data Science Leader – Airside 4.0 to drive innovation and solve critical airfield challenges through a data-driven approach. This role combines the expertise of a data scientist with the practical problem-solving of a systems engineer, requiring a deep understanding of airside systems, customer use cases, and the engineering principles behind our products. The ideal candidate will use their strong analytical skills, engineering knowledge, and problem-solving mindset to develop and implement innovative algorithms, simulations, and solutions for Airside 4.0.

Responsibilities
  • Use Case Development: Lead the development of Airside 4.0 use cases by understanding customer problems, analyzing data from our systems and sensors, and designing innovative solutions based on first principles.
  • Algorithm Design: Create and implement algorithms to extract actionable insights from data and optimize airfield operations, such as improving safety, efficiency, and resource utilization.
  • Simulation and Modeling: Develop simulation models to test and validate solutions, optimize system performance, and predict outcomes under various scenarios.
  • Systems Understanding: Gain a deep knowledge of ADB Safegate's products, including sensors, lighting, and guidance systems, and how they interact within the airfield ecosystem.
  • Collaboration: Partner with engineering, product management, and customer-facing teams to ensure solutions align with business objectives and customer needs.
  • Data Analysis: Collect, process, and analyze data from airfield systems to uncover patterns, trends, and opportunities for improvement.
  • First Principles Problem-Solving: Apply engineering and physics fundamentals to tackle complex, real-world airfield challenges and develop practical, scalable solutions.
  • Technical Leadership: Act as a subject matter expert in Airside 4.0 technologies, guide the organization's technical direction in this area, and mentor other technical team members.
Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related technical field. A master’s degree or equivalent experience is a plus.
  • A minimum of 8–10 years of relevant experience in data analysis, algorithm development, system modeling, or engineering roles involving technical problem-solving.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering and/or physics principles, with the ability to approach problems from a first-principles perspective.
  • Proven experience in simulation and modeling techniques to test and validate solutions and predict system behavior under various conditions.
  • Familiarity with sensor systems, IoT devices, and data collection/processing methodologies.
  • An understanding of airfield operations and/or airport systems is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in programming languages (such as Python or MATLAB) for data analysis, algorithm development, and simulation modeling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and think critically.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
