About the Role

You will support DISA TAC laboratory operations through system and database administration, troubleshooting, security remediation and controlled configuration changes. You will maintain reliable evaluation environments and coordinate with the engineering and network leads. This prospective opportunity supports core laboratory services and is contingent on contract award, funding and selection of the position for the approved staffing plan.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Active Directory, user accounts, groups, permissions and authorized access; maintain system backups, recovery procedures and operational documentation.
  • Perform database health checks, software updates, security configuration and basic troubleshooting; maintain backups and redo/undo logs for continuity and validate recovery arrangements.
  • Operate and maintain container environments and support infrastructure as code, approved scripts and automation.
  • Coordinate vulnerability remediation and mitigation with the Information System Security Officer and Manager; prepare configuration and remediation evidence for plans of action and milestones.
  • Monitor lab availability and performance, resolve assigned incidents, maintain asset/license/warranty records and contribute lab status and service-level reporting.
  • Maintain configurations and operating procedures; support engineering evaluations, controlled changes and continuity through documented handovers.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field, plus at least three (3) years of general experience; OR, in lieu of the degree, at least six (6) years of total experience, comprising the three-year experience minimum plus three (3) additional years of directly related experience.
  • Demonstrated hands-on ability to administer physical/virtual systems, containers, Active Directory, accounts, permissions, patching and backups.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain database health, security, updates, backup/recovery and continuity logs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot operations, use repeatable configurations and scripting, and maintain accurate system and security documentation.
  • Complete required on-the-job training and demonstrate the ability to perform your duties in the assigned Government environment.
Certifications
  • Obtain the required DoD 8140 work-role certification within 90 days of contract award. You must meet applicable qualification requirements and obtain Government authorization before performing privileged activities.
  • For the combined system and database administration assignment, obtain and maintain a current CompTIA Security+ certification; OR a current GIAC GSEC certification together with a current CompTIA A+, EC-Council CND or CompTIA Network+ certification. These alternatives cover the assigned Basic system and database work roles.
  • Maintain your certifications and complete at least 20 hours of continuous professional development annually, or the hours required to maintain your certifications, whichever is greater.
  • Meet the applicable certification requirements and obtain Government authorization before performing privileged activities.
Technical Environment

VMware physical/virtual server environments; Rancher Kubernetes; GPU-equipped systems; Active Directory; Elastic/Splunk data and log platforms; laboratory database backup/recovery and continuity; infrastructure as code and approved scripting; vulnerability remediation and configuration management.

Schedule & Location

Primary duty location: Fort Meade, Maryland. Support Monday-Friday operations during core hours of 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
