About the Role

You will serve as a key member of our team and our lead technical engineer supporting technology assessment, integration testing, evaluation, pilot execution and transition for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). You will work independently or with minimal oversight to turn emerging technologies into tested, documented capabilities for Government decision-making. This prospective opportunity is contingent on contract award and funding.

Key Responsibilities
  • Research technology maturity, commercial use, scalability, security, prior Department of Defense (DoD) deployment, readiness level, pricing and market alternatives; connect each assessment to a defined mission problem.
  • Develop architecture views, integration plans, system specifications, hardware/software dependencies, bills of materials and interface documentation, including ports, protocols and services.
  • Configure and operationalize evaluation environments using test data and users; develop stakeholder requirements, use cases, measures, work breakdown structures, test plans and reports.
  • Identify production deployment constraints, security vulnerabilities and expected pilot costs; prepare evidence supporting Government assessment and evaluation decisions.
  • Help plan and execute production or production-like pilots with operational stakeholders, real data and users, defined success criteria and controlled configurations.
  • Conduct security assessments and prepare system/security plans, scan results, remediation evidence and Risk Management Framework (RMF) artifacts supporting an Authorization to Operate (ATO); support Authorizing Official briefings.
  • Develop pilot findings, transition plans, system design documents, configuration and risk management plans, operating procedures and readiness-review materials.
  • Provide qualified backup for routine laboratory system administration within your demonstrated skills and approved access; support maintenance, controlled configuration changes and operational documentation.
  • Support handover to receiving organizations through technical exchanges and informal technical/user training.
  • Maintain an emerging-technology watchlist with maturity, impact, mission relevance and source references; contribute progress, risks and action-item updates to team reports and reviews.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering or a related field, plus at least three (3) years of general experience; OR, in lieu of the degree, at least six (6) years of total experience, comprising the three-year experience minimum plus three (3) additional years of directly related experience. Either pathway must also include at least five (5) years of DoD experience. The DoD experience may be included within the total experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform systems integration testing independently or with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to execute technology assessments, architecture/integration documentation, controlled testing, security assessment and technical transition activities.
  • Complete required on-the-job training and demonstrate the ability to perform your duties in the assigned Government environment.
Certifications
  • Obtain the required DoD 8140 work-role certification within 90 days of contract award. You must meet applicable qualification requirements and obtain Government authorization before performing privileged activities.
  • Obtain and maintain a current CompTIA A+, EC-Council CND, CompTIA Network+ or CompTIA Security+ certification for system administration duties.
  • Maintain your certification and complete at least 20 hours of continuous professional development annually, or the hours required to maintain your certification, whichever is greater.
  • Meet the applicable certification requirements and obtain Government authorization before performing privileged activities.
Technical Environment

Technology assessment and pilot environments; architecture and integration documentation; hardware/software configurations; vulnerability assessment, RMF/ATO artifacts, test planning and configuration management. Specific evaluation products vary by assigned technology.
