Job summary

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority seeks a Systems Administrator Levels 1-5 to provide technical support for server hardware, operating systems, and storage area networks, including installation and maintenance of complex equipment. The role ensures system availability and aligns with MTA policies and procedures.

Responsibilities scale from Level 1 hands-on installation and troubleshooting to Level 5 leadership in evaluating new technologies and planning deployments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with server hardware, OS administration, and storage area networks.
• Familiarity with Windows services, networking, and directory services.
• Ability to read schematics and technical documents.
• Strong communication and analytical skills.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot complex server and storage solutions to meet availability targets.
• Configure servers for apps, databases, domain controllers, web servers, and SANs.
• Collaborate with DBAs, networks, and help desk to coordinate infrastructure needs.
• Maintain accurate asset documentation and participate in evaluating new technologies.
• Guide and lead less senior staff as levels progress.
