Job summary

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) seeks a System Administrator across Levels 1–5 to support server hardware, operating systems, and storage networks. Responsibilities span installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of diverse server roles with collaboration across DBAs, network teams, and help desk.

Various locations with standard 9 to 5 hours; detailed responsibilities increase with level. Levels 1–5 progressively add design, planning, and leadership aspects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline, or 1 year of equivalent experience.
• Experience installing, maintaining, administering, and supporting computer hardware and operating systems (Windows, HP-UX, Linux, VMware, ESX, Active Directory).
• Ability to read schematics and technical manuals and troubleshoot complex server/storage environments.
• Strong communication and analytical skills; able to work onsite and remotely as required.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and troubleshoot server hardware and software to meet uptime targets.
• Configure servers for various functions (application, database, domain controllers, web, SAN).
• Coordinate with DBAs, network admins, help desk, and IT staff on infrastructure needs.
• Document IT assets accurately per policy; assist in evaluating new products.
