Job description

In support of the Charlotte County Clerk of the Circuit Court and County Comptroller’s mission as guardians of public records and assets, this position is responsible for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of network systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure. The role involves participating in technical research and development to enable ongoing innovation within the infrastructure, ensuring that system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values.

Systems Managed:
  • Windows and Linux network operating systems
  • Network routing and switching devices supporting Clerk of Court and Comptroller infrastructure

Responsibilities include SA engineering and provisioning, operations and support, maintenance, and R&D to ensure continual innovation. This position is essential in the Clerk’s office and requires availability during emergencies or critical system outages. It is eligible for remote work under the policy.

Key Duties:
  1. Triaging, troubleshooting, and documenting incidents.
  2. Managing Microsoft Active Directory and Group Policy, creating accounts, and managing permissions.
  3. Maintaining Windows Server Failover Clusters.
  4. Installing and maintaining hypervisors and virtual servers.
  5. Creating and resizing volumes on enterprise storage arrays.
  6. Configuring, installing, and troubleshooting TCP/IP routing and switching devices and Fibre Channel switches.
  7. Managing enterprise database backups, developing backup and recovery procedures, performing backups, and restoring files.
  8. Applying system patches and updates.
  9. Re-engineering and expanding existing systems, replacing inadequate ones.
  10. Installing application software and services on servers and workstations.
  11. Maintaining security certificates on public-facing websites.
  12. Managing system resources, including performance, capacity, and recoverability.
  13. Configuring and installing network routers and switches, diagnosing network issues.
  14. Maintaining network infrastructure device OS software.
  15. Planning and executing system upgrades, improvements, and repairs.
  16. Participating in enterprise infrastructure planning, documentation, and disaster recovery planning.
  17. Staying updated with emerging technologies through webinars, conferences, and workshops.
  18. Participating in meetings, vendor discussions, and training.
  19. Serving as a member of the Security Incident Response Team.
Qualifications:

Experience with networking, servers, storage, cloud, virtualization, and OS technologies. Skills include:

  • Networking protocols (TCP/IP, Ethernet, DNS, DHCP, directory services)
  • LAN/WAN principles, bandwidth management
  • Fibre Channel storage networking
  • Virtualization and VM management
  • Data storage, backup, and protection strategies
  • Windows Server (Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy, IIS, RDS)
  • Network management tools
  • IT security fundamentals
  • Patch and log management, performance monitoring
  • Messaging systems (Exchange, Office 365)
  • Application and desktop virtualization
  • Cloud backup and replication
  • High availability and fault tolerance

Valid Florida Driver's License required. Ability to perform physical tasks as described, with accommodations if needed. Work environment includes exposure to electrical hazards, mechanical parts, and moderate noise levels.
