Job summary

Textron Systems is seeking a Systems Administrator to design, implement, and maintain secure, air-gapped environments supporting warfighters. You’ll patch, monitor, and remediate vulnerabilities while coordinating with Security and IT teams.

Expect buildout of standalone and domain-controlled systems, routers, switches, and firewalls in Wilmington, MA. Requirements include 2–4 years in systems administration, Secret clearance (or ability to obtain), Windows and Linux proficiency, and DoD

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or directly relevant work experience
  • Secret Clearance required, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance
  • 2–4 years’ experience as a Network / System Administrator / IT
  • Experience with Windows Server (2022/2025) and Windows 11
  • Linux experience a plus (RedHat 8, 9)
  • Knowledge of encryption devices, servers, switches, routers, and firewalls
  • Knowledge of network protocols, security, and troubleshooting
  • DoDD 8140/8570 Certification within 6 months of start date

Responsibilities

  • Setup and maintain systems support for software, hardware, and servers: test, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues related to Classified Systems/Networks
  • Perform application updates and installs, OS upgrades and patching, RAID configuration & monitoring, backups & restoration, disk cloning
  • Provide timely technical support for users and assist with account management
  • Troubleshooting to resolve technical problems on hardware, OS, and applications
  • Support Anti-virus Installation and Maintenance
  • Assist with incident response and backup processes and documentation

About This Role

System Administrators collaborate with a diverse team to support classified information systems. Success in this role means you can develop, implement, and maintain secure, cost-efficient environments supporting the warfighters. Program teams rely on your collaboration and guidance to define computing requirements and develop solutions to solve infrastructure problems. Knowledge of Windows and Linux desktop and server operating systems is required. The System Administrator works closely with other System Administrators and Information Security Team, and is responsible for information system patching, anti-virus updates and installations, vulnerability management, and user account management.

The expectation for this role is automation of security logging and monitoring, automated patch management, and automated remediation of vulnerabilities to air gapped networks. A secondary focus of this role will be on the buildout and operation of standalone systems, networked systems, domain controlled systems, configuration of routers, switches, firewalls.

Responsibilities

  • Setup and maintain systems support for software, hardware, and servers: test, troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues related to Classified Systems/Networks

  • Perform application updates and installs, operating system upgrades and patching, RAID configuration & monitoring, system backups & restoration, system image creation and disk cloning

  • Provide timely technical support for users and work with them to solve existing problems to include software issues, account management and miscellaneous computing requirements

  • Troubleshooting to resolve technical problems on hardware, operating systems, and applications

  • Support Anti-virus Installation and Maintenance

  • Assist with incident response and backup processes and documentation

Qualifications

  • Associates Degree or Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or directly relevant work experience

  • Secret Clearance required, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret Clearance.

  • A minimum of 2-4 years’ experience as a Network / System Administrator / IT

  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of security awareness among IS users. Strong technical, organizational and multi-tasking skills, ability to work in a team environment or independently. Strong interpersonal, reporting, and documentation skills are essential.

  • Experience and familiarity with the following operating systems – Windows Server (2022/2025), Windows 11 Enterprise/SHB Images, Windows 11

  • Experience with Linux operating system is a plus (RedHat 8, 9)

  • Knowledge of encryption devices, servers, switches, routers, and firewalls

  • Knowledge of network protocols, security, and troubleshooting

  • Ability to lift 15 pounds.

  • Microsoft Group Policy fundamentals

  • Experience with Nessus, platform automation tools, security automation tools

  • Ability to collaborate with team members to complete assigned tasks.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to handle new tasks without supervision

  • Must hold or be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140/8570 Certification requirement (CompTIA Security CE, Network , CCNA or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date

Preferred Experience:

  • Managing the lifecycle of equipment in an infrastructure setting.

  • Secret or Top-Secret clearance

Security Clearance:

Applicant selected will be subject to a government security clearance investigation and must meet the requirements for access to classified information. Eligibility requirements include U.S. citizenship.

  • SECRET (Minimum) Clearance

  • Have a background investigation closure date within the last 5 years

  • Be able to obtain Top Secret (If required) and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) access (if required)

Special Working Conditions:

Working in Closed Areas, SCIF’s and work on-site (Not Remote or Hybrid)

In compliance with the local pay transparency law, the pay range for this position is

$92,600 - $139,600 per year.
