Job summary

Jobtailor is recruiting for a systems administrator to support USCGA's IT infrastructure on-site in New London, CT. You will provision, install, configure, and operate enterprise hardware and software, focusing on Windows Server and Red Hat Linux environments.

The role requires hands-on management of Microsoft 365 accounts, Active Directory, and network services, plus patching, imaging, and vulnerability response. You will collaborate with a diverse team on mission-critical projects.

Qualifications

• Experience administering Windows Server and Linux distributions.
• Proficient with Microsoft 365 suite (Forms, Power Apps, Power Automate) and Active Directory.
• Strong hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting skills.
• PowerShell scripting experience.
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPN configurations.
• Ability to lift and move IT equipment up to 50 pounds.

Job description

• Provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain enterprise systems hardware, software, and related infrastructure supporting USCGA
• Ensure system hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational values and security standards
• Perform operating system administration across Windows and Red Hat Linux environments
• Install, configure, and patch server operating systems
• Create and administer Microsoft 365 accounts, including Active Directory and user access management
• Implement security patches and respond to identified vulnerabilities
• Develop and maintain system images tailored to specific user groups
• Support end users and server/network equipment around USCGA facilities
• Join a diverse team supporting U.S. government mission-critical IT and national security projects

Requirements

• Active Public Trust clearance or ability to obtain
• Demonstrated proficiency with Windows Server and Linux distributions
• Proficiency with the Microsoft portfolio, including MS Forms, Power Apps, and Power Automate
• Strong hardware diagnostics and troubleshooting skills
• Scripting experience using platforms such as PowerShell
• Solid understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, and VPN configurations
• Ability to function in a general office and data/server room environment
• Ability to remain in a stationary position approximately 50% of the time, with regular movement around USCGA facilities required
• Ability to lift and move IT equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
